We Are Family-A Presidential Gala Honoring Susan Cherner

Some have said it takes a village to make the person. Some congregations will tell you it takes the synagogue family to make the president. Congregation Ohev Shalom proclaims, our voices rising high as a spirit of one, that our President, Susan Cherner, through her years of hard work, with fairness of spirit and with love in her heart, has made Ohev Shalom an even better, richer, and stronger community.

So, let’s all join together to party with and cheer on Susan on May 3, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. as only our Ohev Shalom family can. We will thank Susan for her hard work and dedication as her term as Ohev’s president moves towards its close.  

To make the day a complete success, we need your help to make it a financial success. Our Ohev Shalom community will do that because our Ohev Shalom community has always done that. Our financial goal is $36,000, with all profits flowing directly to our annual synagogue operating budget.

Susan is a proud graduate of Bryn Mawr College. During Susan’s undergraduate years, she worked hard to find meaning in her studies. She maintained a place in her life for campus social action. Susan’s years at Bryn Mawr confirmed to her that the demands of schoolwork combined with social justice would benefit any community she joined.

Susan is a proud graduate of Villanova Law School. Inspired by her love for her own family, Susan dedicated her professional career to the practice of family law. Both her clients and our synagogue community have been well served by Susan’s determination to balance what is fair with what is just with compassion in her heart.
