Teacher Biographies

Pre-School

 

Ms. Jessica Shefsky: Jessica Shefsky has been with us for the past year and is now starting her second year as the kindergarten teacher. She will be graduating this year as a full kindergarten teacher.  She is also currently working for Kehillah.  Jessica lives in Havertown with her family.  Jessica comes to us with a Gratz College certificate to teach Hebrew school.

First and Second Grade (Sunday) Rotation

 

Mrs. Rebecca Berman: Rebecca is married to a long time congregant of Ohev Shalom, Kyle.  She has been teaching first grade here for many years.  Rebecca is active with the Tot Shabbat program and is currently on the Mispallelim School Board.  When Rebecca is not teaching, she enjoys quality time with her two daughters, Danielle and Meredith, both students of the school.


Ms. Jill Lebowich: Jill is a new teacher for Mispallelim.  She comes to us as a member of the Ohev family.  Her parents and grandparents are active in the synagogue.  Jill has done Rosh Hashana Holiday services for Ohev.  She is also an aerobics instructor. We are very lucky to have Jill as one of our excellent teachers.

Third Grade Wednesday

Ms. Alexandra List:   Alex is a new teacher at Ohev and we are happy to have her.  She is a local resident and is a graduate of a local Yeshiva.  Alex is now a student at Swarthmore and is taking up education.

Mr Moshe Rock: Moshe Rock is a junior at Swarthmore college, studying Psychology. He graduated from Akiba Hebrew Academy (now Barack Academy) in 2005, and loves that he can keep studying Torah with the Ohev Shalom Religious School. He particularly loves Jewish philosophy and ethics, and in his spare time manages a softball team and works to raise awareness of issues of social justice.

Ms Sarah Levine:

Fifth Grade - Wednesdays

Ms. Heidi Diamond:  Heidi has been teaching at Mispallelim for many years.  Heidi is also a member of Ohev Shalom and her two daughters attended Mispallelim.  Heidi also teaches Spanish at Garnet Valley Elementary.  She is originally from California and now lives in Glen Mills.  Our students know Heidi as Morah Cheyn.

Mr. Noah Marks:

Sixth Grade - Wednesdays

Mr. Brandon Wolff:   Brandon Lee Wolff is a National McCabe Scholar at Swarthmore College. He graduated from Council Rock High School North in Bucks County, PA and received a teaching certificate in Jewish Education though the Isaac Mayer Wise Program of Gratz College . He has been teaching fifth and sixth grade at Ohev Sholom since 2004. He is the founder of SAVE R US (Students Against Violence Everywhere Are Us - < http://www.saverusinternational.org www.saverusinternational.org) and coordinator of TRI-CO Peace Week 2008 (< http://www.PeaceWeek.org www.PeaceWeek.org). Brandon started the first SAVE R US program at his high school in 2001 and then worked on expanding SAVE R US to other schools throughout Bucks County, PA and most recently to schools in Delaware County, PA and Bergen County, NJ.

Seventh Grade - Wednesdays

Mr. Rick Epstein: Rick has been teaching at Ohev for many years.  He and his family are lifetime members of Ohev Shalom.  Rick has a degree in Judaism, Religion and History.  He encourages the students to think independently and wrestle with their feelings.  He wants the students to learn to question and find the correct answers.

Fifth Grade - Sixth Grade - Seventh Grade (Sunday Rotation)

Ms. Alexandra List:   Alex is a new teacher at Ohev and we are happy to have her.  She is a local resident and is a graduate of a local Yeshiva.  Alex is now a student at Swarthmore and is taking up education.

Mr. Mark Paikoff: Mark is a teaching not only at Ohev but also at Glenwood Elementary in Media. He has taught Hebrew school on and off for the past 15 years at Ohev, and Beth Tikvah B'Nai Jeshurun in Erdenheim.  Mark and his wife Miriam have two wonderful children who attend Mispallelim, Lily and Zach. They live in Media, Pa.

Music

 

Cantor Scott Borsky: Cantor Scott is a cantor in Cherry Hill, NJ and comes to use a few times a week.  He teaches music, music theory, and chanting to our students.  Scott also helps us with many of our holiday programs as well as some of our school services.

 

 

Dance

 

Don Schillinger : Don is an excellent teacher, talented dancer, and friend to Ohev Shalom.  He has been teaching for many, many years and we are thrilled he works with our students.  Our students know Don from school and from Bar/Bat Mitzvahs where he does Israeli dancing.
