I
am delighted to have been welcomed so warmly into the Ohev Shalom
community. For the past three years I have served Congregation
Or Shalom in Berwyn. In addition to leading from the bimah, I was
the music teacher for the religious school.
During my tenure there I founded and directed the Or Shalom Children's
Choir. I will soon complete a Master of Arts in Jewish Music from
Gratz College and have music degrees from Swarthmore College and
the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University where I
concentrated in voice and music history. I enjoy singing opera,
musical theater and recitals as well as liturgical music. Three
of my favorite roles have been Don Giovanni, his servant, Leporello
and Don Quixote/Cervantes from Man of La Mancha.
I believe a satisfying worship services combines traditional chant
and congregational melodies within the context of community.
I encourage beautiful singing that is spirited,
yet graceful. With prayer that is both thoughtful and musical,
services can be appealing and relevant. |
